The Herbal Skincare Recipes That Finally Worked for My Sensitive Skin
No baking soda. No tallow. No complicated lotions. Just four herbal recipes that finally stopped making my skin freak out.
For Anyone Who’s Tried the Natural Route and Still Ended Up Itchy
You know that moment when you're excited to try a new DIY recipe—and then five minutes later you're staring at red, angry skin wondering what went wrong?
Been there. A lot.
For years, I wanted to get away from commercial skincare, but even “natural” recipes left me with irritation, breakouts, or that weird sticky feeling that made me want to wash it all off again.
Eventually, after a lot of experimenting, note-taking, and learning how herbs actually work—I landed on four herbal skincare recipes that are simple, gentle, and (honestly?) the only ones I still use.
This post is for you if you’ve tried the trendy things and they didn’t work… and you’re ready to keep it real, clean, and herbal.
What I’ll Share
The exact 4 recipes I use in my everyday routine
How they helped my sensitive skin
A printable version I made for my own binder (and now yours, too, if you want it)
The Four Herbal Recipes That Actually Helped My Skin
1. Under Eye Tightening Oil Roller
Tired, puffy eyes were kind of my default setting. This little oil roller uses herbs like rosehip, chamomile, and calendula to calm that puffiness without stinging or clogging anything.
It's cooling, it's light, and I keep one by my bed and one in the fridge.
2. Green Tea Facial Toner
This one was a surprise win for me. It’s a blend of green tea and witch hazel or vodka that tones and freshens without stripping my skin.
Bonus: It doesn’t smell like salad dressing, and it actually helps calm redness.
3. Baking Soda-Free Deodorant
Honestly? This was the hardest to figure out. Most natural deodorants burned my skin or left me super sweaty.
This one uses kaolin clay, arrowroot, and castor oil—and it works without baking soda or coconut oil. I’ve used it through hot weather, stress, and even days where I forgot to reapply. Still going strong.
4. Soothing Glow Facial Serum (This One’s Not on the Blog)
This one’s a little bonus I made for myself after a day in the garden left my cheeks looking like a tomato.
It’s a calming blend of chamomile, calendula, and jojoba with a tiny bit of rosehip. I use just a few drops in the evening, and it’s the thing that makes my skin feel genuinely happy at the end of the day.
Why I Made a Printable Kit
After writing these recipes down in five different notebooks, trying to read scribbled margins, and forgetting which oil I used last time, I finally just made a clean, printable version for myself.
And then I figured: if it helped me stay consistent, it might help you too.
So I bundled all four recipes into one printable Herbal Skincare Kit, along with:

Final Thought
There’s no one perfect skincare routine for everyone—but if you’re tired of chasing trends and just want something simple, herbal, and made with care, I hope these recipes give you a starting point.
They helped me feel more confident and way less irritated (literally and emotionally).
